Finger Painting/Eating

Emma has given up on eating banana baby food, so I thought I'd try giving her real bananas and let her feed herself. I don't know how much she actually ate, but she sure had fun trying!

That was GOOD!

Emily posted a sneak peek of Emma's 9-month pictures on her blog. Here are a few of my favorites:

Getting Brave!

Emma has recently started getting brave (or impatient) and wanting to walk on her own. If there's no one around to grab onto, she'll just take off and will usually land hard on her bottom. Here, she is trying to get from her activity table to her walker. She stretches as far as she can and then takes some steps to finish the journey. We are desperately holding on to what appears to be final stretch of a semi-stationary baby. We're getting our running shoes ready!

A New Hairdo and a Signature Face

While Emma was taking a bath, I took advantage of her sitting still to see if I could manage to get her hair into pigtails. Success! She also decided to show us her new signature face. She makes this face for everything now. It cracks us up!

Go Matthew!

A few weeks ago, our friends, Amber and Brad, brought their son Matthew over for a visit. Matthew tried out Emma's jumper, but did not enjoy it at all. It seems he has been practicing and Brad posted a video on his blog of Matthew playing in his new jumper. The video was set to music, and Emma was straining to watch it while I was watching it, so I finally gave in and let her watch it on her own. Boy, did she have a reaction! She loved the music and seeing her friend having a good time. We also loved the encouragement she gave him while he was working hard. We're all proud of you, Matthew!

She's on Her Way!

Emma still hasn't crawled yet, but she can't wait to walk. She pulls up on anything that stands still and she has recently started cruising around from object to object. She gets so proud of herself and we're so proud of her too!

Tea For Two

Aunt Nicole gave Emma a really cute tea set for Christmas and we have been having "tea parties" every night. Even Daddy enjoys it!
Emma patiently waits for her cup.

"I'll stick to eating the plates."
"The chocolate cake is good too!"
