Happy Halloween!

Emma has had a very busy Halloween weekend. Today we geared up for the big trick-or-treating day. Since she was only six months last year, this year was her first year to go trick-or-treating. She started the day insisting on feeding herself cereal. Thankfully, she ended up doing a really good job and didn't get milk everywhere like I had feared.

We were lucky and Emma took a good, long nap before dinner. She wanted to walk around the entire neighborhood on her own, and didn't want any help carrying her bucket, even when it got really heavy. When we got home, she helped pass out treats until bedtime. It's amazing how grown up and independent my little girl has become!

Boo at the Zoo

We took Emma to Boo at the Zoo this Sunday. We had so much fun! She walked all around the zoo to the different treat stations, where Emma was able to get candy and other treats. She loved seeing all the other kids and activities that were taking place. There were dancers, jugglers, characters, and animals (of course). She smiled from the time we got there until we left. It's amazing how much she has grown and changed from last year. It's so much fun to see her experience new things and see everything through her eyes.

Fall is Here!

We had big plans for this beautiful fall day. We woke up early, made pumpkin muffins, put chili in the crock pit for dinner, did yard work, and had planned on going to the pumpkin patch. Well, the yard work must have been too much for Emma because she ended up sleeping right through dinner and didn't wake up in time to make it to the pumpkin patch. Oh well! She had a great time "helping" Andy rake the leaves.

It's a Girl!

Today was the big ultrasound day and we found out that we will be blessed with another beautiful baby girl. She wasn't being very cooperative with the ultrasound technician, so it was hard for her to determine if she was a girl at first, but finally, she cooperated. She's healthy, strong, and measuring in at a whopping 14 ounces. Here's a picture of her letting us know that all is well:

18 Month Checkup

Emma had her 18 month checkup today. Andy and I were a little nervous since she was a little underweight at 15 months. We just can't keep her still! Although she had only gained a little over a pound, she moved up in percentile. At her last appointment, she was in the fifth percentile for weight. This time she was 20 pounds 6 ounces and was in the twelfth percentile for weight and eleventh percentile for height. She was more proportionate and he wasn't worried about her at all.

Cognitively, she is at 26 months and she made her doctor's day by offering him lots of hugs and kisses. She was also able to do what she does best: show off! She showed him all the body parts he asked for, made animal noises, and talked his ear off. She really loves her doctor, which makes doctor appointments SO much easier!

Unfortunately, she did have to get one shot, but the good news is that she was originally scheduled for two. He didn't see any reason for her to get her Hepatitis A shot now, since she's not in daycare. So he put it off until her 2 year (!) appointment and just gave her her flu shot this time. She was very interested in the nurse's purple gloves and was really happy with her pretty pink band-aid, so her tears were minimal. Yay!

We spent the rest of the morning shopping and had a relaxing afternoon baking cookies and watching her favorite movie, Lady and the Tramp. Even though we had to spend some of our morning at the doctor's office, I loved spending the day with my precious little girl.

Happy Birthday Matthew!

Today we celebrated Emma's favorite little buddy's first birthday. We all had a great time watching Matthew with all of his family and friends. He is such a loved (and lovable!) little guy.

A Busy Saturday

Today was such a fun, but busy day. We got an early start and took Emma to The Blessing of the Pets at our church. They were scheduled to have a petting zoo, but it got delayed due to trailer problems. Emma was none the wiser and had a ball looking at all the puppies and cats there.

After lunch and a nap, we went to the Pellissippi State Balloon Festival. Emma loved looking at all the balloons and people. They had a band and Emma was a dancing machine! When the sun went down, the balloons performed a synchronized light show to the music. We had such a great day!
