Good-bye Summer!

To celebrate the last day of summer, we took Emma to TCBY and the park. The park had an Emma-sized play area and she loved being able to do it all by herself.

She's not excited about the swing; she's excited about the ice cream Daddy is holding!

Big Sister

Emma is already a wonderful big sister. She loves to hug and kiss the baby. Sometimes, she'll stick her face right up to my tummy and "talk." It's fun to imagine what she's saying to her little brother or sister. Before she goes to bed every night she says goodnight to Sasha (the cat), Daddy, the baby, and Mommy (in that order). Sometimes she'll forget Mommy and go back for another round of baby kisses. She is so sweet. She's just like the rest of us and can't wait to meet this new blessing.

My Little Pony

Every day I am reminded of how big my little girl is getting. She's such a girly girl and loves putting on new clothes and having her hair combed. She loves wearing bows and cutesy things in her hair (and let's face it, I love it too!). Since her hair is getting longer, I have been experimenting a little more. Today we tried a ponytail and she looked like such a big girl.
*Disclaimer: Andy asks that you please ignore the weeds.

Go Vols!

Today was the first UT football game and it was such a beautiful day. It was the first day in a long time that it wasn't over 90 degrees and humid. Before game time, we took Emma to the park and enjoyed the weather.

The first thing Emma wanted to do was swing. There was little boy on the swing next to her that was shouting "Whee!" Emma thought it was hilarious and also started yelling "Whee!" She's definitely in mimicking mode.
WHEE!!! She loved having a huge field where she could run around.
Sometimes she still looks like my "baby."
Daddy showed Emma how to shoot off balloon rockets.

After nap time, we went over to Mimi and Grandpa's house for a BBQ. Emma wore her new cheerleader outfit that they bought for her. She was so excited that it was so nice outside and that she was able to go outside to play.

Two "Pea"nuts in a Pod

We finally made the big announcement; we're getting ready for baby number 2! I've put off telling for so long because it was the beginning of the school year and that didn't seem like a good time to spring the news on children and parents I didn't know. I've finally shared the news with my students (who are thrilled!) and now we're ready to shout it from the rooftops. The great thing about waiting for so long is that we don't have much longer to wait until we find out the baby's sex. We'll find out on October 6th; one day before our anniversary! Here's the first picture of our new addition:

Although Emma can't really understand what is going on, we have told her that Mommy has a baby in her tummy. She loves to kiss the baby and will sometimes talk to him or her. She's going to be a great big sister. Even though we just broke the news to family and friends, we told our parents as soon as we found out and Emma helped surprise them. She wore her new "Big Sister" shirt and let them figure it out.

We'll be sure to keep you updated on "deuce's" progress!
