Saturday Morning Scene

88 degrees and 67% humidity at 7:30 a.m. means absolutely nothing to a 2 year old.

It looks like we're going outside to sweat!

Saturday Morning Scene - Saying Goodbye

I'm linking up with Katie today to share our Saturday Morning Scene.  Here's ours:

We are saying goodbye to the baby stuff (sob).  We kept all of Emma's old things for Sophia, but now that she's getting so big (sniff, sniff), we need to start making some space and get rid of what we aren't using (tear).  Our neighborhood is having a yard sale, so we thought this would be a great time to do it (boo hoo).

It is so hard to let go of some of these items, because I so vividly remember what my babies looked like wearing them or using them. Like this one:

Emma wore this when she went on her first outing to Target.  She also gave her first smile in this onesie.

Then there's this one:
Who can forget my sweet Sophia, caught on camera right before a sneeze, but looking scared out of her mind?

We're also selling some of our other baby things that we will be sad to say goodbye to.  Such as our beloved swing.

This was by far the best purchase we have ever made.  It helped us survive colic, reflux and sleep problems with both of our girls.  The songs that played while it was in motion were the soundtrack for our lives for quite some time.  We were actually looking forward to taking it out of storage when Sophia was born.

Of course, there are some things that we will save forever.  Like Andy's favorite pair of pajama's that were worn by both girls:

I can neither confirm nor deny if I was sobbing as I pulled each item out of the storage bags.  I also may or may not weep as each item goes home with it's new owner.  Andy may banish me to the house so that I don't freak out the potential customers.

Now head on over to Loves of Life to see what others are doing this Saturday morning.  I can almost guarantee that the other participants will not be an emotional wreck while folding clothes.

Sob, sob, sob.

Saturday Morning Scene

This morning we headed out to the mall to enjoy Winnie the Pooh story time at the Disney Store.  I have really been building up the Pooh excitement at our house because I plan on taking Emma to see the new Winnie the Pooh movie next weekend.  She has a pretty good attention span for a two year old, and I think she'll be fascinated by all the kids and the big screen.  Every time she sees the previews she shouts, "Look!  It's Pooh!"

She loved the story and they let all the kids hold a character while it was being read (marketing genius!).  We listened to the story, played at the Play Zone, and had lunch.  An overall great morning/afternoon at the mall.
This is how excited I am about Pooh.
This gumball machine blew her mind.  She's never had a gumball before--heck, she doesn't even know what gum is--but this was big and colorful and she knew it must be something good.
Sophia woke up just in time to see Emma play at the Play Zone

Saturday Morning Scene

It's Saturday again, and I'm linking up with Katie over at Loves of Life for the Saturday Morning Scene. Head on over and share yours too!

Saturday Morning Scene

This morning, I woke up and knew that I didn't want this Saturday to be like most others. Usually, we lounge around the house all morning and by the time we all get ready, it's time for a nap or lunch and then we put off getting out of the house entirely.

Andy got up with the baby last night, so he slept in this morning. We work well together on this: I hate waking up in the middle of the night, because I can never fall back to sleep. So a 45 minute feeding usually keeps me up for 2+ hours. However, I don't mind waking up early. Andy falls asleep as soon as his head hits the pillow, but he hates waking up early. So this arrangement works really well on the weekends.

The girls lounged around, waiting on Daddy

Emma decided to channel Mother Teresa

While he slept, I was able to get the girls up, fed, and dressed so that we could head out as soon as he was ready. We didn't have big plans, but going anywhere with 2 kids in tow always turns into a big outing. We went to Turkey Creek, a busy shopping area, to do some shopping and to have lunch. The kids loved looking at the water fountains and walking around, even through it's 1,054 degrees outside.

When we stopped off at Panera to grab something to eat, we were patiently waiting in line, minding our own business when a lady and her friend (daughter?) got in front of us. Normally, I would have rolled my eyes at Andy and shot daggers at her without saying anything, but there were about six people behind us and I wasn't about the let her cut in front of them.

Have you ever seen the show "What Would You Do?" It's a hidden camera show that videotapes people's reactions to various situations. I just know I am going to be on that show one day, and I don't want to be that person who the people at home are screaming at, mad that I didn't do or say anything. I have a reputation to uphold

So the line cutter gets in front of us and I say (very nicely, I might add), "Actually, the line is back there."

Line Cutter looks at me in disdain and walks off in a huff saying loudly, "Well, maybe you should get in line then."

Oh no, she didn't.

I don't really remember what I said then, but it was something to the effect of explaining how one line that feeds into three registers works; you wait to be called to the next register.

Hey, I'm a teacher, lady. I know the "line rules."

She continued to argue with me. As she sulked to the back, she continued to complain about us not being in line, causing my very non-confrontational hubby to look her in the eye and firmly say, "We were in line."

No, it wasn't Jerry Springer worthy, but in our household, a "fight" like that ranks right up there with the Tyson/Holyfield ear fiasco.

So there you have it. Our exciting adventure out of the house. I think we're good for another month or so.

Saturday Morning Scene

Saturday Morning Scene

I'm linking up with Katie at Loves of Life this morning to share our Saturday Morning Scene. Head on over and share yours too!

Everyone slept in a little bit later this morning so we celebrated with Chocolate Covered Strawberry Pancakes. Emma definitely enjoyed hers and had to be reminded several times to eat slower, rather than shoving the entire thing in her mouth. I guess she gets her love of all things chocolate from her mama. ;)

The kitchen table is the place where most of our fun times occur. It gives us a chance to sit down together and listen to Emma talk. Emma always uses this time of undivided attention to entertain us with a story, a dance, a song...whatever.

This morning, she got Daddy to sing along with her. Her tune of choice? The "A Team" theme song. Of course, it's the Sesame Street version, but entertaining none the less.

I often wonder how we stayed entertained before we had children.

Saturday Morning Scene

Today I'm linking up with Katie over at Loves of Life for my Saturday Morning Scene.

Saturday Morning Scene

It has been hot here for the past week or so. And I mean HOT. We finally got around to getting Sophia her very first swimsuit so that we can try to make it the pool to cool off. It doesn't get much cuter than this folks:

Oh wait. It just might...

Saturday Morning Scene

Saturday Morning Scene

Today I'm linking up with Katie at Loves of Life for the Saturday Morning Scene. Here's what is going on this morning.

Check out my girl. Today she begins her swimming lessons at the YMCA (you can start singing, I won't tell). She has no idea what swimming lessons are, but she sure is excited about them. All she knows is that she is going to be in the water with Mommy, Daddy, and her best bud, Matthew.

And really, with that plan of action, what else do you need to know?

She has been telling Sophia and the cat that she's going to go to the "big water" all morning.

My little peanut is getting so big. Today it's swimming lessons, tomorrow it's driving lessons. Please slow down, baby girl. You're growing far too fast for your mama.
