A Beautiful Afternoon

The weather around here has been gorgeous. Warm, sunny, a slight breeze...it definitely doesn't seem like November 11th! We took the girls to the park to burn off some energy and to enjoy the great weather.

 

Emma is all business when we play and refuses to sit still or look at the camera for pictures. This is the only way I could get a shot of the two girls together!

Happy Halloween!

We've had a full weekend of Halloween fun. We kicked off the trick-or-treating festivities at the girls' Mimi and Papa's house.  We had a bonfire and roasted hot dogs and s'mores.  After dinner, we got the girls all dressed up in their costumes so that they could go trick-or-treating at my in-law's and their neighbor's house. 

I took a picture of Andy and Sophia last night and I have almost the same exact picture of him and Emma at her first bonfire two years ago.  It is CRAZY to see how similar they look!

I stayed home with the girls today and it was so nice to be able to stay home and have fun with them.  This morning, Emma enjoyed a spooky breakfast of spiderweb pancakes, boo bananas, and swamp thing yogurt.  She was so excited and ate it all up in no time.  

Later in the morning, the girls painted their pumpkins to put outside for Halloween night.  Emma was totally into it and took her job VERY seriously. 

Sophia didn't really get what all the fuss was about and was actually pretty peeved that she couldn't put the paintbrush in her mouth.  

Our sweet friends, the Roberts', came over tonight for dinner and to join us for trick-or-treating.  Taking pictures of three kids is nearly impossible, but I managed to get a couple.

We had such a great Halloween.  As Emma gets older, holidays are becoming better each year.  When Sophia starts to "get" the holidays, it's going to be amazing!

Pumpkin Patch

Today was such a good day.  This morning we took the girls to the pumpkin patch at a local farm.  They have tons of stuff for the kids to do, including slides, tractors to play on, and animals to pet and feed.  We went with our friends the Roberts' and so the kids (and us parents) were able to play together.

These two thought the goats needed pumpkins too. They worked so hard to get them what they thought they needed.

After we played, we took a hayride over to the pumpkin patch and the kids were able to walk around and pick their own pumpkin.  Sophia was so overcome with excitement that she fell asleep.  Emma was more than happy to choose one for her.

Sweet Amber offered to carry Sophia while we chose our pumpkins and Sophia was so content with her that she fell right to sleep.

After the kids exhausted themselves at the farm, we headed over to the park to have a picnic lunch.  When we got home, we got the kids cleaned up, changed and put them down for a three hour nap.  Mommy and Daddy took a good, long nap too. ;) 

Now we're getting ready to have some pizza for dinner and finish off the evening with some shopping and then maybe Andy and I can watch a movie after the kids go to bed.  I'll have to see if I can persuade him to watch a movie instead of the UT/Georgia game.  Five years ago, I "made" him get married during the game, so I may be pushing my luck.

A Relaxing Sunday

We have had the best weekend and I'm so sad to see it end.  The weather has been gorgeous and we have been trying to spend as much time outside as we possibly can.

This afternoon we took the girls to see their Mimi and Papa.  They had been out of town and Emma was dying to go for a visit.  She spent the afternoon helping their neighbor, "Mr. Bob" reseed his yard.  He was covering the grass seed with hay, and man, did she think that was the best job.  She helped throw down the hay and spread it with her rake.  We'll see if she likes that job in a few more years! ;)

Emma took a longer nap today (I guess she worked too hard), so Sophia helped me cook dinner.  We never got a chance to have Andy's birthday dinner, so we had planned to do that tonight.  While I cooked, Sophia occupied herself with eating Puffs.  She still hasn't mastered the art of getting the Puffs into her mouth, but she can spend hours trying.

After dinner, Emma really wanted to get out and play so we took the girls on a wagon ride.  It's great now that Sophia can sit up on her own and can join in on the fun.  They were so cute in the wagon together.  We passed a house with a barking dog and Emma told Sophia, "I'll save you!" 

I'm so happy that the weather has been so nice.  I have been looking forward to fall and all the fun activities that go along with it.  One of the blog moms that I follow, Katie from Loves of Life, created this adorable Fall Bucket List to print out and check off as the items are completed.  Head on over to see hers and grab one for yourself.   I can't wait to print mine out and get started!

Fall is Here!

We had big plans for this beautiful fall day. We woke up early, made pumpkin muffins, put chili in the crock pit for dinner, did yard work, and had planned on going to the pumpkin patch. Well, the yard work must have been too much for Emma because she ended up sleeping right through dinner and didn't wake up in time to make it to the pumpkin patch. Oh well! She had a great time "helping" Andy rake the leaves.
