It has been a wonderful, crazy, and busy week. Our sweet Sophia blessed our lives on Sunday, February 6th at 10:05 a.m.
I woke up at 3:00 a.m. on Sunday with contractions and after an hour, I woke Andy up and we decided to call the doctor and headed to the hospital. After arriving at the hospital, the doctor discovered that I had already dilated to 5 cm. When the doctor arrived an hour later, I had dilated to 8 cm. After the epidural, the doctor came back to check on me and Sophia gave him a surprise...he couldn't feel her head anymore. He performed an ultrasound and found out that she turned into a breech position. After weighing the pros and cons, we decided that the safest route would be to do a cesarean. We were not prepared for this at all, and things moved very quickly. The nurses and doctors were wonderful at calming our fears and getting things done as quickly as possible. We arrived at the operating room at 9:30 and by 10:05, our sweet girl arrived. She weighed 8 pounds, 5 ounces and was 19 inches long. Even though she looks a LOT like Emma did when she was born, she is all Sophia.
Since then, we have been adjusting to our new life as a family of four. Emma has quickly embraced her role as big sister and is a great help to us. She never ceases to amaze us with how grown-up and sweet she is with each new change life hands her. Two of her favorite new things to say is "It's ok, baby." and "Look, baby. I'm Emma!" She loves her sister "Hocia" and is involved with everything we do for her.
Even though we're tired, our house is a mess, and we haven't been outside in days, we wouldn't have it any other way. We are so blissfully happy with our two, beautiful little girls. My sweet husband and I are beyond blessed and often find ourselves looking at each other in disbelief that we can be this lucky.
Here are a few pictures from our first week. Enjoy!
