Merry Christmas!

It's been a LONG time since I've blogged. It's been so crazy around here with school ending just a couple days before Christmas that I haven't had time to think straight.

We have also had an onslaught of injuries, illnesses, and other maladies.  Both girls are cutting teeth, I've had a cold, Emma has been running a high temperature the past couple of days, Andy "stabbed" himself with his pocket knife (he's ok), and he is also battling a bad cold and loss of voice.  In between all of that, we've tried to get things organized for Christmas.

We put everything aside on Christmas Eve to celebrate with my in-laws.  Unfortunately, Emma was still running a high temperature and we weren't able to make it to Christmas Eve service. The girls had been super cranky all day and just sort of lounged around, so I was worried that they weren't going to do very well, but they did great. They had so much fun spending time with their Mimi, Papa, and Aunt Nicole.

Both girls woke up pretty early on Christmas morning and were thrilled to see that Santa has come.  They dove into their presents and then swapped and played with the other's gifts.  We had a great breakfast and sang Happy Birthday to Jesus.  The girls were happy playing with their new toys and we had a nice, quiet morning resting for more gift opening and Christmas dinner with my family.

I don't think Sophia quite understood why she was given a gift, having it taken away, and then given another gift.  But she rolled with it.

Emma was more interested in showing Sophia the ropes on opening gifts than she was in her own presents.  Everything came to a standstill when she opened her microphone from Nana and Papa, though.  That girls loves to perform (when no one's watching) and entertained us by shouting "Let's get ready to rock and roll!" I don't know where she gets this stuff!

Even though Andy was sick, he made an awesome prime rib. We stuffed ourselves with delicious food and then passed out pretty early.  Sophia made her first Christmas really exciting by walking everywhere!  She had been taking a few steps here and there, but decided that this would be the day to really go for it.  She isn't afraid to let go and walk clear across the room!

Even though we've been under the weather, we still had a great Christmas together!
